Home & Garden

Outdoor projects during quarantine

With all this downtime due to COVID-19 my brother Bert and Mother have been working on remodeling their backyards. Who knew how much work goes into building a garden, fireplace, lining the fence with bricks and getting a pool set up. Trying to fill the pool took the longest I’m sure.

My mother has been wanting to get her garden back up for a very long time now. To see that she was able to finally get it closed in and up by the house where she wanted it thanks to this quarantine is very exciting. The sweet potatoes that she is growing are for her wildlife rehab center. Mostly animals that she rehabs enjoy eating sweet potatoes along with their puppy chow. I plan to see if she can plant some cucumbers for me later on. There is nothing better than a fresh cucumber with Ranch.

In the middle of working on Bert’s yard he started thinking of ways to be able to use one water hose for the pool, one for mixing concrete and watering the garden at the same time. Turns out you can buy a splitter to be able to run two hoses at once. The only other option would have been so connect three water hoses and have them wrap from the front of the house, to the back of the house. To do this it probably would’ve taken three hoses just read from the front of the house to the back of the house.

So he took a quick break and started researching different type of splinters and while doing that he came across a website with 11 of the best garden hose splinters. So he end up buying a splitter helped when him and his roommate wanted to do two sides of the yard at once. After he told me about it, I told our mother so that she can use one as well for animals and gardening.

This is one angle of his backyard after all their hard work.

These two projects have taken months to complete and are not quite done, but with all this downtime it definitely helped to be able to get the test done quicker. What are some of the tasks or projects that you all have been working on during this COVID-19 quarantine? I would love to hear some of your stories.
