Synopsis from Goodreads:

Geralt the Witcher—revered and hated—is a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent.
But not everything monstrous looking is evil and not everything fair is good… and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.

After watching the Tv series The Witcher, awhile back I started collecting the books. I felt like this was right up my alley and I want to see from the author’s eyes. This book did not disappoint or should I say the show did not. The Last Wish was amazing, and I was surprised at how well the tv series did with sticking to the books. I am sure that someone will come along and say that the show left something out. I am sure it did, but I feel like all the key parts were on par.

Yennefer was a lot meaner to Geralt in the books than the tv series. From this book I would not think that she would find interest in him.

Witcher’s get such a bad reputation to where most towns people do not even want to deal with them. It is crazy to think of because they are the ones that get hired to fight monsters. Even as Geralt goes from town to town killing monsters the towns people still are rude to him. I would be like damn; I just saved your home!

The Last Wish was a good start and I will be reading the next book. I must know how well the tv series follows the books. Yennefer better get her life together and be nicer to Geralt in the next book. Honestly, I do not want to wait for the tv series. I want to know how the separation of people and the war turn out.

Although this book was not read this year it is one off my physical TBR. Maybe I can read the next one this year and make it count.

Andrzej Sapkowski is the author of the Witcher series and the Hussite Trilogy.
